Privacy Policy
DriftWell for iPhone and Apple Watch · Effective June 11, 2026
The short version:
DriftWell has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Your health data is read from Apple Health with your permission, processed entirely on your device, and never leaves your device. I cannot see it, store it, sell it, or share it — by design, I have no way to.
The only information the app ever sends over the internet is your approximate location, to fetch your local weather forecast. That request contains no identity and no health data.
Who I am
DriftWell is an independent app developed by Erica Quitoriano (“I”, “me”). This policy describes what the DriftWell iPhone app, its Apple Watch app, and its widgets and complications (together, “the app”) do with your information. Questions are welcome at support@driftwellhealth.app.
Data the app reads, and why
Health and fitness data (Apple Health)
With your explicit permission, granted through Apple's HealthKit permission screen, DriftWell reads the following categories from Apple Health to compute your readiness, recovery, sleep, and training insights:
- Heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability (HRV/SDNN)
- Sleep analysis (stages, duration) and respiratory rate
- Blood oxygen (SpO₂) and sleeping wrist temperature
- VO₂ max and workouts
- Steps and daily activity
- Blood glucose, if a CGM app writes it to Apple Health
- Date of birth (to estimate age-based heart-rate zones)
DriftWell is read-only: it never writes, modifies, or deletes anything in Apple Health.
Location
If you allow location access, the app uses your approximate coordinates to show local weather and air quality. Location is used only while the app is open and is not stored.
Preferences
Small settings — such as your appearance preference (light/dark) — are stored on your device only.
Where your data goes
| Data | Where it is processed | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Health and fitness data | On your iPhone and Apple Watch | Never |
| Derived scores (readiness, stress) | On your devices, shared between your iPhone, Watch, and widgets via Apple's secure app-group storage | Never |
| Approximate location | Sent to Open-Meteo to fetch weather | Coordinates only — no name, no identifiers, no health data |
Weather and air quality are provided by Open-Meteo, a non-commercial weather service. The request contains your latitude/longitude and — as with any internet request — your IP address is visible to the receiving server. No account, cookie, or advertising identifier is attached. See the Open-Meteo terms and privacy practices.
What DriftWell doesn't do
- No collection. I operate no servers and receive no copy of your data — health or otherwise.
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile of you anywhere.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising frameworks, and no trackers.
- No selling or sharing. I never sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing of any kind, consistent with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.
- No iCloud storage of health data. Your health data stays in Apple Health under Apple's protections; DriftWell does not store it in iCloud.
Storage and deletion
Everything DriftWell computes — scores, snapshots for widgets and the Watch — lives on your devices. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Your underlying health data remains safely in Apple Health, where it always was, fully under your control.
Your controls
- Grant or revoke any health permission at any time in the Health app: Health → Profile → Privacy → Apps → DriftWell.
- Grant or revoke location access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Remove all app data by deleting the app.
Because I hold no data about you, there is nothing for me to export, correct, or erase — the rights granted by laws such as the GDPR and CCPA are satisfied by the controls above. If you believe I hold any personal data about you, contact me and I will respond promptly.
Children
DriftWell is a wellness app intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Not medical advice
DriftWell provides wellness and fitness insights based on your Apple Health data. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding your health.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change — for example, if a future feature introduces a new data source — I will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships. Material changes will be called out in the App Store release notes.
